CHALLENGE
SMART, the Suburban Mobility Authority for Regional Transportation, used to do business the old way – handling nearly every customer inquiry by phone and handing out flyers when bus routes were being changed. SMART needed to improve service and save money in the process.
SOLUTION
WIT created a new Web design and universal navigation for SMART that allows visitors easier and quicker access to service-related information. In addition to making the site more user-friendly, the new design accurately captured SMART’s brand, online.
WIT built a content management system leveraging powerful Microsoft Content Manager Server technology. The new CMS allows multiple SMART employees to control Web content with specific user-privileges, permission-based roles and content approval workflow. Minimum training was required to get the SMART staff up and running.
RESULT
Already, SMART has improved its site to among other things, include information about the forms of transportation, bus schedules and a place where people can sign up to receive e-mail alerts about their bus routes. Also, the information is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Previously, customers had to make sure they called before 6:30 p.m., when the customer-service staff left for the day.
